Beyonce Knowles-Carter has done it once again. Following a four-year hiatus, the superstar returned back to the grand stage, starting with a performance in Dubai for the opening of the Atlantis Royal.

After videos of her performance hit social media, many anticipated the announcement of a tour for the 2024 season. Days following this speculation, fans were delighted after Knowles-Carter formerly announced the Renaissance Tour, set to start later this year.

With speculation that this may be the star’s last tour, thousands have prepared for the price and dash for tickets that are expected to sell out at record rates. Now, Ticketmaster, run by LiveNation, faces pressure from government officials and fans to ensure a smooth ticketing process with an emphasis on eliminating bots and greedy resellers.

As the ticket distribution company operates under this pressure, it has embraced a dynamic pricing approach. With this approach, resellers who purchase a plethora of tickets will be subjected to selling them at sky-high prices, decreasing the probability of purchase. By enforcing this process, Ticketmaster hopes to eliminate any potential reselling and price-gouging.

Also, Ticketmaster has placed extra precautions in an attempt to protect eager customers. With the announcement of the tour, fans were notified that they would need to register for a chance to purchase concert tickets – a new step in the process.

After doing so, individuals were randomly selected and provided with an access code to actually purchase tickets. Unfortunately, those who were not selected were placed on a waiting list, in hopes of eventually obtaining a code. While it appeared that the company had thoughtfully created this system, many have been out of luck in their attempts secure tickets.

In another tweet, @shatired expressed how “the pricing for American tickers really showcases how greedy corporations can suck the life and joy out of everything for poor and working-class people. also how the government allows them to go unchecked.”

As thousands of fans take to social media to voice their complaints and frustrations, there is concern that the dynamic pricing approach has failed on numerous levels. If this proves to be the case, Ticketmaster may be subjected to congregational hearings to discuss the viability of the ownership of the company and LiveNation.
