NFL Week One: Shocking Upsets, Stellar Performances and Early Super Bowl Picks

The NFL season kicked off with a thrilling week one, filled with intense matchups, expected upsets and unexpected performances.

Teams like the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Tenessee Titans, L.A. Rams, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints, Philidelphia Eagles, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Pittburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, New England Patriots, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Commanders all faced off, delivering a mix of expected outcomes and shocking upsets.

Thursday night, the reigning Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs went head-to-head with the Baltimore Ravens with a 20-27 win due to just a few blades of grass.

In the final seconds of the game, the Ravens seemingly scored a touchdown, leaving the Ravens with a field goal that would ultimately win them the first game of the season. 

After officials reviewed the replay, they determined that Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely’s foot was out of bounds by just a few inches, overturning the touchdown and clinching the victory for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely made this catch in the end zone while being defended by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton, but on replay was ruled out of bounds. The Chiefs defeated the Ravens by a score of 27-20.

In a different setting, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers 34-29 after Eagles running back, Saquon Barkley, scored three touchdowns.

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Arizona Cardinals 34-28 and Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw two touchdown passes and ultimately, decided to run two more. The Bills overcame a 17-1 shortfall, showcasing the winning power of their offense

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mack Hollins makes a catch for a touchdown against the Arizona Cardinals during the second half at Highmark Stadium.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Atlanta Falcons with an 18-10 victory with six field goals from placekicker Chris Boswell.

In a different setting, the Chicago Bears had a questionable debut from quarterback Caleb Williams against the Tennessee Titans, which resulted in a 24-17 victory for the team.

Other notable performances include the New England Patriots defeating the Cincinnati Bengals 16-10, the Miami Dolphins final second victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New Orleans Saints dominating the Carolina Panthers  47-10.

Closing out week one, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Cleveland Browns 33-17 with four touchdown passes thrown by Baker Mayfield bringing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a thrilling 37-20 victory over the Washington Commanders.

With Intense matchups, expected upsets and unexpected performances, week one set the premise for what looks to be an exciting NFL season.
