As the NFL season progresses, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is emerging as the frontrunner for the 2024 NFL MVP award.
With 250+ bets or odds, in his favor, Jackson has been instrumental in the Ravens’ success this season, showcasing exceptional playmaking ability and leadership. Analysts point to his dual-threat capabilities as the key to his MVP candidacy, with Jackson consistently delivering both through the air and on the ground
Trailing Jackson are other notable quarterbacks, including Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles. Allen currently has the shortest odds at +150, thanks to his remarkable consistency and the Bills’ strong position in the American Football Conference(AFC).
“Josh’s poise under pressure and his ability to deliver in clutch moments keep him firmly in the conversation,” said NFL analyst Tony Romo during a recent broadcast.
Meanwhile, Hurts has garnered attention through his leadership in Philadelphia, especially following their acquisition of Saquon Barkley; who has also been deemed a dark horse candidate for MVP due to his record-breaking performances.
“Honestly, it’s a hard choice but I have to go with Jalen Hurts. I know it’s not the hot thing to say right now, but he is leading the Eagles to another Super Bowl appearance,” long-time Eagles fan Jabari Lofton said.
Experts highlight the challenges non-quarterbacks face in the MVP race, as the award heavily favors signal-callers. However, Barkley’s historic rushing performances for the Eagles have sparked debate about his chances of breaking this trend.
Former NFL player and analyst Mark Schlereth said, “If I was an MVP voter, Saquon would get my vote,” acknowledging Barkley’s game-changing impact.
Despite Jackson’s lead, the race remains competitive. Other potential candidates, such as Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, could surge if their teams excel in the latter part of the season. With the award decided by regular-season performance, the final weeks will be pivotal in determining who claims this prestigious honor.
“Joe Burrow is my choice for NFL MVP quarterback right now. Although they aren’t in the playoff picture right now, he is still putting up great numbers,”
For now, Lamar Jackson’s combination of talent and team success positions him as the player to beat in this year’s MVP race.
