On October 28, 2024, Latto’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea Tour rolled into Washington, D.C., for the first sold-out show of the tour, and let’s just say, the city was ready for Big Mama.
Showing up and showing out in their cheetah print, the crowd was excited from the moment the doors opened. Although they had to wait a little longer than expected, fans weren’t complaining. By the time the lights went down, the energy was enough to fill the entire venue with anticipation.
Opening Act: Karrahboo’s Quick Stir
The evening kicked off with Karrahboo, whose brief 10-minute set didn’t leave much of an impact. While her performance may not have been memorable, it was merely a warm-up before the main course. After her, the tour was all about the headliner. The real magic started when Mariah the Scientist took the stage.
Mariah the Scientist: The Chemistry Was Right

Mariah the Scientist was in her element, taking the stage like a seasoned pro despite her boyfriend, Young Thug, being incarcerated at the time. However, she found a way to incorporate both him and their relationship into her performance.
The screen behind her displayed “Free Thug,” along with visuals of the couple, adding a personal touch to her set. This made singing her love songs, including “Walked In” featuring Young Thug, even more powerful.
The crowd was treated to hit after hit, from “IDGAF” with Tee Grizzley and Chris Brown to “Always n Forever” featuring Lil Baby and her viral sensation “Spread Thin.” Mariah’s vocal prowess was undeniable, and the visual production behind her set was top-notch, enhancing the overall experience.
Her ability to connect with the crowd without relying on complex choreography demonstrated that her raw talent was more than enough to captivate the room.
Latto: Bringing Magic City to D.C.

By the time Latto hit the stage, it was clear that D.C. had been eagerly awaiting this moment. Known for her unapologetic presence and southern belle persona, she proved she was more than just a rapper—she’s a true performer.
Her set had it all: her signature Big Energy, stunning visuals and background dancers who brought the choreography to life. Her setlist included songs from her early days, such as “B*tch from Da Souf” and “No Hook”, all the way to her most trending songs today, like “Brokey” and “Sunday Service.”
The stage production was on point, with dancers performing on poles, adding an extra layer of glam to Latto’s already electrifying performance. In a way, she brought Magic City to D.C., making everyone feel like they were a Georgia Peach.
Latto even brought Mariah the Scientist back onstage for their hit song, “Look What You Did”, creating a seamless connection between the two stars.
Her crowd engagement was next level. Latto brought a birthday girl onstage for a special “Big Mama” moment, and the crowd went wild. The birthday girl stepped into a cash grab machine, grabbing as much money as possible—showing everyone just what she got for her birthday.
It was a fun nod to the “birthday energy” that Latto’s lyrics embody. And of course, Latto proved that she’s not just a rapper—she can bust a move too. With her dancers and choreography slaying every routine, Latto showed that she’s got the full package.
A Tour That’s More Than Just Music
It’s clear that Latto’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea Tour is not just about making hits go viral—it’s a full-blown experience. From the crowd’s infectious energy to the impressive visuals and seamless collaboration with Mariah the Scientist, this tour has set a high bar.
The connection between Latto and Mariah, both of whom have women managers and strong bonds with their teams, made the show feel even more empowering. Their authenticity and sisterhood were evident in every moment.
Mariah’s manager, Morgan Buckles, shared during an interview, “D.C. is one of Mariah’s biggest markets.”
With multiple sold-out shows under her belt in the area, the capital city was definitely ready for this tour.
In the end, Latto and Mariah not only brought the magic to D.C., but they also delivered a performance that celebrated both women’s empowerment and the power of sisterhood in the music industry. Whether you came for the hits, the visuals, or the “Big Energy”, the Sugar Honey Iced Tea Tour proved to be one sweet experience you won’t forget.
