The Howard University women’s soccer team made history this season by appearing at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament.
The season began with a 4-2 victory against Saint Peter’s, but Bison had a slow start early on. However, the team found its rhythm, attaining an impressive 7-win streak. As the season progressed, Howard hosted the Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament, where they faced off against the No. 4 team in the NEC, Stonehill College in the first round. The Bison emerged victorious with a 2-0 win, advancing to their first-ever NEC Championship game.
In the title match, Howard faced the No. 3 team in the NEC, Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). Both teams played offensively g in the first half, scoring three shots each, but the Bison pulled a 1-0 lead into halftime.
FDU managed to tie the score in the second half, but Howard responded with a second goal to seal a 2-1 victory, securing their NEC championship—the first in the program’s history.

“It feels amazing to be part of such a historic moment for Howard University,” said Saliyah Brady, the Bison’s forward. “We’ve worked so hard all season, and this season is a testament to our resilience.”
With the NEC title in hand, the Bison advanced to the NCAA Tournament where they faced the top-ranked Duke University.
Despite a determined effort, Howard fell 0-8 in the first round. While the result was a tough loss, the team’s historic season will be remembered for the program’s landmark achievements, setting a strong foundation for future success.
