The National Football League (NFL) announced that the Washington Commanders and the Jacksonville Jaguars will be featured in the 2026 NFL London Games. The Commanders will play at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London, England.
The NFL has had success with expanding globally beyond the United States, especially in the United Kingdom, with over three million fans attending regular-season games in London since 2007.
“The NFL London games bring fans together from across the UK and beyond, and play a key role in engaging our existing fans as well as creating new audiences and driving NFL fandom in this market,” said NFL U.K. & Ireland General Manager Henry Hodgson.
The Commanders are no strangers to international games, having played in Madrid, Spain, this past season against the Miami Dolphins at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and back in 2016 in London.
With Washington set to return overseas in 2026, some fans who attended previous international games say the experience is unforgettable. Dexter Cole, a loyal Commanders fan who traveled to Madrid last season, shared a similar perspective.
“The NFL international experience is transformative. To be in another culture and witness the NFL fandom represented by not only Americans but other countries was the highlight of my trip to Madrid last year,” Cole said. “As a loyal Commanders fan, their trip across the pond for another international game next season is super exciting. I look forward to another amazing experience that will undoubtedly provide great memories that will last a lifetime.”
Fans also enjoy the sports paired with the thrill of visiting new cities overseas.
“To be able to combine my love of professional football with my passion for international travel is truly an amazing experience, and I highly recommend it for anyone who shares an enthusiasm for both,” Cole said.
Team executives want to take advantage of the loyalty of U.K. fans.
“Last season’s trip to Madrid was a tremendous milestone for our organization,” said Washington Commanders Managing Partner Josh Harris. “London is home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the world, and we want to continue to enhance our fanbase in the U.K. and worldwide.”
The Commanders’ opponent and date of the game in London are still to be determined and will be revealed when the 2026 NFL schedule is released.
